In normal daily solar use, where your solar system charges the battery during the day and your home uses that stored energy later, the Powerwall 3 is guaranteed to retain at least 70 percent of its original 13.5 kWh capacity after 10 years.

For standard home use, Tesla also allows unlimited charging and discharging, so you do not need to worry about wearing out the battery through everyday use.

If you use the battery more heavily, such as by joining a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program where the battery is charged and discharged more frequently, Tesla applies a limit on the total amount of energy it can deliver over its lifetime.
